Silicone is a semi-organic elastomer with outstanding resistance to extremes of temperature with corresponding resistance to compression set. Silicone orings utilizes a flexible siloxane backbone rather than a carbon backbone like many other elastomers and has very low glass transition temperatures. Silicone o-rings are aslo referred to as VMQ orings, or PVMQ o-rings. Columbia offers a selection of both AS568 standard Silicone o-rings and metric o-ring sizes. We can also develop custom Silicone o-rings to meet application specifications.

Standard AS568 Silicone O-Rings

All stocked Silicone AS568 o-rings have three measurement types. First, a nominal inch reference, then actual inch sizes, and finally the metric size displayed in millimeters. Silicone o-rings are stocked and cataloged by their AS568 number. This number references the Aerospace Standard 568 (AS 568) which was published by the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). Each o-ring is assigned a dash number which correlates directly to an exact o-ring size. You may view a complete chart of these o-ring sizes here.

Standard Metric Silicone O-Ring

Silicone O-rings are available in several metric sizes. Silicone metric O-rings are cataloged by their cross section and inside diameter.
